Select Glasses based on face type

When choosing glasses, you will consider factors ranging from color to size to fit. There is one more aspect to consider in order to find the perfect frame: the shape of your face.

Understanding the shape of your face can help you choose the glasses that suit you. Certain frames further enhance the features of your face you want to emphasize and help your face balance naturally.

Of course, facial features are just one part of choosing glasses. Choosing the right frame to match your face shape is not a must-follow rule. Choosing one's preference will be a better choice.

Round face

If you think your face is round, you can emphasize bold frame elements, such as thick, straight lines and sharp endpieces. Glasses that match your round face include wide rectangular glasses that show an angled shape, or thick gold-rimmed glasses that complement your round cheeks.

Recommended glasses: Square glasses, cat eye glasses, gold-rimmed glasses

Elliptical face

For someone with an oval face, most eyeglass frames will look good on you. The biggest tip is to choose a wide frame rather than a narrow one. A wide frame will balance the length of your face. If you want to highlight the sharpness of your jawline, you can choose a curved frame, or if you want to highlight the rounded part of your face, you can choose an angled frame.

Recommended glasses: almost any type of frame.

Heart face

For a heart-shaped face, it is recommended to balance the face overall by choosing a frame that is slightly wider than the forehead. In particular, a round frame can easily balance the face. Generally, however, a heart-shaped face can easily match many types of glasses, and their choice depends on which feature of the face you want to emphasize. Some people choose semi-rimless frames so that the glasses do not attract too much attention.

Recommended glasses: Round glasses, Oval glasses, Aviator glasses, Semirimless glasses

Angled face

Curved glasses complement the angled parts of the square face. They make the overall feel of the face soft, especially if the frame is thin. Choosing a wider frame than your face can better complement your strong jawline.

Recommended glasses: Round glasses, Oval glasses, Metal glasses, Semirimless glasses

Triangular face

For the shape of a triangular face, the frame that emphasizes the top more than the bottom is better. Wide frames of glasses can help to balance the narrow forehead and the wide jawline of the face. I like glasses with details added to their brow, such as a cat-eye curved shape and a hinge with an added decoration.

Recommended glasses: Square glasses, brow line glasses, cat eye glasses

Diamond face

As for the shape of the diamond face like the triangle face, glasses with details on the top of the glasses or a thick brow combination are good. Round frames can also help balance the face. The balance of the frame of the glasses is important because the diamond face narrows both the top and bottom. It would be good to look at the horn-rimmed and brow-lined glasses and choose which frame matches them.

Recommended glasses: Brow-line glasses, cat-eye glasses, round glasses, Oval glasses, Semirimless glasses

Face shape is a guide, not a rule, when choosing glasses

You don't have to take these into account when choosing glasses that fit your face. When it comes to choosing glasses, your personal look and style are more important than your face shape.
