Size of Glasses that Fit You

[Typical Size of Glasses]

Lens Horizontal Length

* The width of the lens (eye size) is always written in the first position in the size notation. It tells you the width of the lens, in millimeters. This measurement considers only the width of the transparent lens, not the surrounding frame.

Typical range: 40–60 mm

Bridge Length

* Bridge width measures the distance between the two lenses in the frame. Larger bridge width glasses are best for wider noses, while smaller bridge widths are suitable for narrower noses.

Typical range: 14–24 mm

Temple Length

* Temple length measures from the hinge that attaches to the frame body to the tip behind the ear. 135, 140, 145, and 150 are standard temple sizes. Wearing glasses that fit your face will stretch the legs long enough to touch behind your ears, but not too sticking out over your ears.

Typical range: 120–150 mm

Front of Frame Width

* The width of the frame is the total width of the entire frame, measured at the widest point (usually from endpiece to endpiece). The frame should not be too wide for the face, and the position of the eye should be in the center of the lens.

Typical range: 125–150 mm

Lens Height

* The lens height is the vertical height from the lowest point to the highest point of the lens. A certain amount of space is required in various visual areas, especially with measurements that are highly relevant when using multifocal or progressive lenses.

Typical range: 32–38 mm

[ PD(Pupillary Distance) ]

- PD is the distance between pupils. It refers to the distance from the pupil of the right eye (center of the black eye) to the pupil of the left eye.

Generally, you can check the exact dimensions if you have an eye examination at an optician or ophthalmologist, but you can check the approximate dimensions with your own ruler. The measurements are as follows.

(Glasses PD value = Lens width length + bridge length) - Eye PD value =

Depending on the result, you choose glasses of the right size for you.

1. +4 to +8 : The most stable size.

2. Less than 0: The distance between the eyes may feel distant.

3. Larger than +12: The distance between the eyes may feel narrow.
